Have I kept myself pure for nothing?
One day, a certain Levite singer was meditating. He had observed the happenings of his community and couldn't help but envy the proud who always seemed to prosper. These people wore pride like a jeweled necklace and their clothing was woven of cruelty. Boastful, these people lived such a painless life, yet had everything their hearts could wish for!
It can be heart wrenching for a committed priest to behold such.
He had to ask:
Psalms 73:11 - "Does God realize what is going on?" … "Is the Most High even aware of what is happening?"
Psalms 73:12 - Look at these arrogant people--enjoying a life of ease while their riches multiply.
'Maybe I'm doing something wrong.' Asaph thought.
Psalms 73:13 - Was it for nothing that I kept my heart pure and kept myself from doing wrong?
Psalms 73:14 - All I get is trouble all day long; every morning brings me pain.
I have thought about this. Maybe you have too. Those who live their lives with less caution don't seem to face immediate life-threatening consequences, but there's you trying to live a righteous life the best way you can and you can't help but wonder why the unrighteous prosper.
You may even have asked God a similar question.
A few lines after Asaph expressed his sincere worry, like a light bulb moment, he understood something simple yet profound.
Ps.73.17 - Then one day I went into your sanctuary, O God, and I thought about the destiny of the wicked.
Ps.73.18 - Truly, you put them on a slippery path and send them sliding over the cliff to destruction.
Ps.73.19 - In an instant they are destroyed, swept away by terrors.
Ps.73.20 - Their present life is only a dream that is gone when they awake. When you arise, O Lord, you will make them vanish from this life.
To you who have refused to compromise and still uphold God's righteous values:
Isa.3.10 - Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
Isa.3.11 - Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
God is faithfully committed to His Word, so if He says it, we know we can believe Him because it is in our best interest.
Do not fret, God knows all things. And He makes them work for our good.
Don't bother no more about the unjust, rather choose to genuinely pray that they come into the Light of the understanding of God's saving grace for their lives.
Just what if you fall under the category of those who constantly follow the path of unrighteousness? You can change. Read this to know how.
P.S: If you read to this point, I really love you. What's better, God loves you more❤️.
